Android 15 features you should consider in 2024

Recently, Google has announced the release of their newer Android, Android 15 version. Android 15 is based on “Material You.” Material You was introduced in 2014; its uniqueness compared to the previous Android version is its adaptability. In the last decades, Google has improved a lot in its UI design. 

Google has added and improved a lot of features in the latest Android. So, in this article, I have listed about 15 new features and hidden tricks in the latest Android phone.

Android 15 Features: New Updates, Enhancements, and Innovations

Preview Notification 

In the preview Android version, you have to manually enable notification history by going into the settings pane. This is the most common trick Android users use to allow notification history. As it is Improved, Google has released the Android 15 version to provide a good solution to Android users. It also allows the number of times the app has notifications for the last 24 hours.

Pause Apps

Pause apps are a handy feature of Android 15. It is helpful for annoying situations like when you are in a meeting with the boss, and an app keeps pushing notifications, making the situation annoying. Due to the new Android release, you can pause apps for a set time frame. So, this feature will turn off all the apps for a specific time frame. It keeps turning off all the app’s notifications, and you will only access it until you resume the application.

Improved app suggestions

Google has improved the app suggestion feature for Android devices. With the release of the latest Android 15, app suggestions are improved. It enables app suggestions on the Home screen and all the app menus. The good thing is that the app’s suggestions stay at the front of the Home screen. 

Tap and hold on the Home screen

Go to Home Settings 

Click Suggestions 

Enable All toggles 

Game Mode

The game mode is a useful Android 15 feature for gamers. But it needs to activate from a hidden menu. The game mode allows players to play games directly from the Phone. 

  1. Open Settings
  2. Go  to Digital Wellbeing
  3. Tap on the Do Not Disturb option
  4. Click on schedules
  5. Enable Gamemode checkbox
  6. Go to Game Mode settings

Activate Google Assistant from the Power Button

In earlier versions, you can only long-press the home button. To enable Google Assistant from the power button by default, you should follow the following steps:

  1. Go to Phone Settings
  2. Tap System
  3. Click on the Power menu under Gestures.
  4. Toggle The Hold for Assistant to enable it

Extra Dim

Android 15 provides a Dim feature to protect your eyes while reading your favorite article or book from a high brightness level. Using this feature, you can drop brightness levels on Android devices. The brightness of the devices is significantly lesser than the normal brightness level. However, it uses two different brightness settings for Android users. You can manage these features from Quick Toggle.

Here’s the way to enable Extra Dim on your Phone:

  1. Open the phone’sPhone’s settings
  2. Go Accessibility
  3. Click on Extra Dim, and it will allow it.

Stop Apps Data Sharing

Data privacy is the most critical concern of Android users. Android users face lots of data privacy issues. After the app installation, the user approves the app’s permissions to enable data sharing. Recently, Google released an Android 15 featuring blocking apps from sending data to third-party agencies. 

  • Jump straight to the Phone’s settings
  • Go to Privacy
  • Turn off the toggle.

Android 15 has a helpful feature to stop ads to protect user privacy. In the recent versions, only Vanilla Android doesn’t have ads. Android 15 has a One-handed mode that doesn’t shrink the phone screen to one corner. This feature brings down the screen’s top portion to provide better reachability. 

Here are the steps to enable one-handed mode on your Phone:

  1. Open Phone’s Settings
  2. Go to System under Settings
  3. Click Gestures 
  4. Tap to allow One-Handed Mode 

Adaptive Connectivity

Google Pixel 4 series has a lot of issues with poor battery life. Google Android 15 provides adaptive connectivity that switches the data from 5G to 4G without data loss. So it improves the battery life of your Phone.

Privacy and security improvements

Android 15 has introduced a privacy dashboard that provides detailed usage details and statistics about the app permissions. It summarises how many apps have used your data, location, camera, and microphone in the last 24 hours. 

At the recent Google I/O event in 2021, Google announced the new privacy feature in Android 15 for better security. 

Android 15 privacy dashboard enables the user to manage app permission. It has to manage permission settings for all the permissions on your Phonephone. You can easily revoke the consent by toggling the permissions listed.

Android 15 provides a powerful app search feature that allows users to search an application quickly. App search is used on the device search engine to search installed applications on your device.

The music player manages all the songs on your device. When you search for your favorite song music player, the results are passed down to App search to find the matched songs quickly. Offline mode can produce great results.

  1. Improved auto rotation: Android 15 now has an auto-rotate feature. Now, it uses face detection with a front camera to rotate the screen properly.
